    In Peru the San Pedro or Wachuma is a columnar cactus that is part of various magical and religious manifestations dating from pre-Hispanic times with cultures such as: Chavín (1,200 - 200 b.C.), Paracas (300 - 0 b.C.), Nazca (100 a.C. - 700 a.C.), Mochica (200 - 700 a.C.), Chimú (1,100 - 1,470 a.C.) and Inka (1,438 -1,532 a.C.); hence the representations in craftsmanship in general. These ceremonies are performed until today.

     

    The Wachuma or Huachuma is better known in Peru as San Pedro, it grows in the Peruvian Andes and has always guided our ancestors with its essence towards the connection with the divine. It is believed that the name of Saint Peter refers to the connection with divine sources, because it has the name of the Christian saint who guards the gates of heaven (Saint Peter); The name Wachuma in Quechua means dizzy or drunk. The scientific name of the San Pedro or Wachuma is Echinopsis pachanoi.

     

    Therapeutic Use:

    In Peru the San Pedro or Wachuma is used by shamans who use it to cure the ills of patients such as: Alcoholism, depression among others; just as it is also used by shamans to heal the soul; which indicates that The functions of a shaman are not restricted to physical evils. The aim of the shaman in his healing ritual is to make the patient flourish with the ceremony, to make the subconscious open. It is a healing plant, to understand things of life; with great harmony and clarity thanks to the goodness of this plant. With the ceremony you get, all you need is to lose your fear.

     

    The first step to face this experience is to be willing and perceptive that the teaching will come from another side. Teaching begins before the day of the ceremony and medicine continues indefinitely in time. The previous teaching begins with the changes in eating habits (it is better to stick to the guidelines). The common goal of the diet is to purify your body.

    TECHNIQUES OR ANCESTRAL CEREMONIES:

     

    • Volcanic Water (Medicinal).- Purgative medicinal water from the subsoil made up of different minerals and substances that cure any type of discomfort eliminating toxic excesses. It is recommended to take it before the ceremony of San Pedro or Wachuma (only if it is necessary).
    • Coca leafs reading.- The coca leaf is an ancient source of wisdom. Through this plant you can see the past, understand the present and better project yourself into the future. It is done by a person who has the gift of reading, an expert who asks nature for permission to proceed with the reading through prayers in Quechua or Aymara. It is an important ceremony within the ritual of San Pedro or Wachuma.
    • Energetic cleaning.- It is necessary to liberate the spirit and soul, to prepare ourselves internally and externally, to purify our karma of negative energies. Put our being ready for the San Pedro or Wachuma ceremony.
    • Pachamama Ceremony.- We ask the mother to help us in spiritual and material matters through prayers so that life goes on; as well as we thank you for everything you have achieved and lived up to now.
    • Flowering Baths.- the flowering baths are an aid to ward off bad elements, with this the mind will be revitalized and good vibes will be attracted. A flowering bath is a very special magical ritual, which is done with flowers and other species, to obtain the different objectives.

    San Pedro or Wachuma as a medicine has its own instructions for use. It is important to comply from start to finish with all indications. The shamans have a different way of preparing you for the San Pedro or Wachuma ceremony, but there will always be a diet to follow; The diet prepares our body to arrive as clean as possible when meeting with the plant.

     

    Not everyone can take the San Pedro or Wachuma. If you have heart problems (physical), if you suffer from fainting, it is better not to take the Plant. If you are menstruating or pregnant, then you just have to wait. In any case, if you have something wrong, consult.

     

    PREPARATIONS TO BE MADE BEFORE THE WACHUMA OR HUACHUMA CEREMONY (SAN PEDRO):

     

    If you are very anxious about the results, the preparations will be basic and in less time, it is not recommended; the faster and shorter the preparation, the lower the results. Go easy, take a couple of weeks to reflect on the way you lead your life, explore yourself, and show courage to change the situation or correct mistakes, then the results will go beyond your own expectations.

     

    You don't have to leave your job weeks before, just give yourself a few minutes a day for two weeks to get to know yourself, meditate, get closer to your essence and explore your fears and your strengths. The security of your feelings should be consistent with your physical condition, try to rest those two weeks. Go for a walk or jog gently, make leisurely movements. Breathe deeply each moment; recharge yourself with the will to stop eating or tasting foods that often make you feel good. The body has to purify toxic substances. Quit opiates, amphetamines, cocaine, and antidepressants. Do not consume alcohol and marijuana; reduce the number of cigarettes, Significantly reduce the salt and sugar in your food. Avoid eating meat (especially red meat). Save sexual abstinence, including masturbation.

     

    The day you take San Pedro or Wachuma, get up early, have a cup of oatmeal for breakfast (only if necessary). Do breathing exercises and take cold showers. Drink water, rest and make sure you arrive calm and safe to the session in San Pedro or Wachuma. It may or may not accompany the Ceremony of San Pedro or Wachuma with the Techniques or Ancestral Ceremonies.

With San Pedro or Wachuma you understand your past better, you live the present better and you project yourself better for the future. San Pedro or Wachuma not only cures the ills of the soul; He also heals physical ailments

     

    On the day of the San Pedro or Wachuma Healing Retreat, you will need to fast and drink only water if possible. After meditating and relaxing; We will begin with the San Pedro or Wachuma Ceremony, in which the Master Shaman will smoke mapacho (tobacco) and will say prayers to ask the sacred plant for permission to be in balance with nature. The San Pedro or Wachuma ceremony lasts from 6 to 12 hours in which the participants sit in front of or around the shaman (healer). Then we proceed to take San Pedro or Wachuma, its intake can cause effects such as nausea, vomiting or sweating in the body, something that the shaman interprets as the expulsion of traumas, fears and blockages.

     

    The shaman will tell you how long you should be without talking and he will start raccooning (smoking tobacco). The tobacco soul is a protector and is always present in all the ceremonies of San Pedro or Wachuma. The Icaros (chants) used by the shaman are the ones that lead the experience, although there are shamans who work with silence. You will walk a lot for a better experience.

     

    After the ceremony, you can have a short conversation with the Master Shaman to share experiences and interpret the visions. After this, a special diet will be eaten.

     

    The San Pedro or Wachuma is taken as a connector with invisible worlds, that is, to cure diseases of the body and soul, therefore, the diet must continue for periods ranging from one week to three months after the ceremony.
