The Inka city of Machupicchu, considered within the UNESCO heritage list, is built on top of the mountain of the same name. Made up of temples, enclosures, platforms and water channels; built basically with stone blocks superimposed on each other. Possibly built in the 15th century, by order of Inka Pachacuteq.
Machupicchu, which comes from Quechua and means "old mountain", is considered an important political, religious and administrative center of the Inka empire, and is divided into two large sectors: the agricultural sector that includes a series of terraces (artificial platforms), and the urban one, which consists of several buildings and squares, including the Temple of the Sun, the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Temple of the Condor.
SERVICE DESCRIPTION MACHU PICCHU - 01 DAY
For this trip, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at a previously coordinated time (variable hours), we will transfer you by bus to the Ollantaytambo station, where you will board the train heading to the town of Aguas Calientes (2,000 meters above sea level). Aguas Calientes is a small town located 30 minutes (by bus) from the citadel of Machupicchu; After some snacks, we will take one of the buses to ascend 400 m. along a zigzag path until you reach the wonder of the world "The citadel of Machupicchu", which is inside the "Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu".
The guided tour in Machupicchu takes approximately 2 hours. You will begin to visit the main sectors of the citadel: the sacred square, the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana (Solar Clock), the Royal Enclosures, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemetery. At the end of the tour you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. After this visit, you must return to the town of Aguas Calientes and enjoy your lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Then you will take the train back; the return will follow the same pattern as the outward journey. When you arrive at the train station in Ollantaytambo, we will be waiting for you to take you back to the city of Cusco.
