The 2-days "Inka Trail to Machupicchu" program is a great opportunity that Peru Mysteries offers to people who do not have enough time to walk the classic "4-days Inka Trail". This is a challenging 12 km hike. that will leave us satisfied by becoming a good option to enjoy archaeological sites, nature as well as a well-deserved family vacation.

    ITINERARY:

DAY 01 (CUSCO - CHACHABAMBA OR KM 104 - AGUAS CALIENTES): This version of the "Inka Trail to Machupicchu" starts at your hotel, from where we pick you up at 4:00 am. From there and with the guide we will travel for approximately 1.5 hours to Ollantaytambo, where we will take the train to our starting point; a place known as Km. 104 or "Chachabamba". The entire travel route will surprise you with its beautiful paths delicately decorated with green forests and its soft nature that will clear your mind for the walk that this unmistakable place requires.

Chachabamba is located within the route of the traditional Inka Trail that followed the current of the Urubamba River at a height of 2,171 meters above sea level. Due to the shape of its constructions and the architectural order that you are contemplating, it can be said that Chachabamba would also have been built for important religious purposes. "It is believed that the archaeological site was a place destined for the Water Treaty" or that "It served as a place of protection before entering Machupicchu."

In Chachabamba there is also the first checkpoint where we will present all the documents (permit of the "Inka Trail" and your original passport) that will allow us to officially enter the "Inka Trail to Machupicchu". After the checkpoint we will begin our walk of approximately 4 hours to Wiñayhuayna or Huiñayhuayna, where we will enjoy our box lunch. This part of the hike is interesting and beautiful with nice scenery. Huiñayhuayna (in Quechua: eternally young) is an archaeological site part of the Inka Trail. The architecture is similar to that of Machupicchu. The buildings are built with lithic granite elements. The main portal has a double jamb and the others have a simple jamb. As is characteristic of Inka architecture. After a break in Wiñayhuayna we will walk another hour to the "Intipunku" or "Puerta del Sol"; from there we will have a great view of the citadel of "Machupicchu" and all the surrounding mountains. After this we will continue descending, in this case to the citadel of "Machupicchu" (30 min.). Later we will take a bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where our hotel is located, arriving there around 5 in the afternoon, and we will enjoy a nice dinner and then enjoy the night...

DAY 02 (AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO): In the second and last day of the tour, we will enjoy it from breakfast (5:00 am.). In Aguas Calientes we will take the bus to the citadel of Machupicchu (approximately 30 minutes), to enter Machupicchu we will have to show our income in addition to our original passport and student card if applicable; After all this, the guide will show us and explain about Machupicchu for approximately two hours, after the tour, you will have free time to explore the citadel of Machupicchu on your own, its different paths and its beautiful surroundings. Enjoy the magnificent place. Congratulations, you did it...

After having enjoyed the magnificent city of the Inkas, you will use your bus ticket to go down to the town of Aguas Calientes and then take the train back to Ollantaytambo. The train leaves at 6:20 p.m. and arrives in Ollantaytambo after 1:45 hours. In Ollantaytambo there will be a bus waiting for taking us back to Cusco city.
